Post #6: So Long, Farewell, to YOU My Friend

Farewell to you my  dear Eco-spotters. (sniff) Yes, we are afraid this is our last post. Unfortunately, it is time to hibernate... maybe FOREVER! Just kidding, of course The Eco Spot will always be there to help you naturally. Let's jump into a T.A.R.D.I.S. (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) and go back to the past - to the day we met our mission: "Go teach and save Mother Earth." Well, something like that. Actually, this blog is actually our C.E.O. or what you would call a "project" in other galaxies. Uh, we meant schools. Of course the word "project" doesn't sound as creative and exciting so our teachers decided to call it C.E.O. (Creative Expansive Output) to make our projects exciting. Wait... what am I saying right now? ALL RIGHT, BACK TO THE TOPIC!

Information about our fieldtrip to BNPP and PCC was what we were assigned to  turn into a blog. We prepared for this C.E.O. by taking down notes and listening attentively to the lectures during the fieldtrip. Of course, like every task or project, we sometimes encounter problems. For example, we had a few (several) typos that we needed to editt (like that one, hahaha) and so on. Even so, we were able to get through these problems or like what the pawikan would say, "Find our way to the ocean"... (not a real quote), by helping each other to improve the blog with the help of our editor and the comments and feedback we got.  There were also challeneges in communication, especially when we were already at home.  Thank goodness for Facebook, Viber and email!  Oh, and our posts wouldn't be as interesting without the memes, diagrams and (for this post) gifs.  Hooray for the internet!

Preparation was a lot about checking T. Ryan's blog constantly for requirements and imposing deadlines among us members so we can meet the ultimate (whew!) deadline for each post. Research for the requirements is also part of the preparation, as well as taking photos during the field trip itself.  To sum it all up, collaboration and cooperation were key ingredients as we prepared for the posts each time.

So, the last question we will answer is...

The Million Dollar Question: If you were given the chance to re-do this C.E.O., would you still grab that chance?

The Priceless Answer: Yes, Yes, YES!! If we were given the chance to re-do this blogging project, we will gladly take the chance and start again ("and now we're starting over again!"). why?  We have learned more about each other and this blog has helped us express ourselves better, and respect nature more. It is also important to mention that we got to know ourselves more, because we were able to test our limits, what with the numerous times we had to complete a post by a certain deadline.  Who would have known we could do so much even when we were not together (physically, we mean).

EVEN THE TURTLE SAYS:

In our opinion, what we could improve with this C.E.O. is really the communication - earlier and more complete guidelies among the members should be done.  The blog developer would then have more time to work on the blog, and not have to resort to last-minute (literally!) improvements!  All in all, though, all's well that ends well!

Again, thank you guys for going to our blog for this gave us a...

BLOGGING LESSON: The most important lesson we learned is that it takes 2 (or in our case 4) to tango (or Conga line). Teamwork is essential in success and we all need to do our fair share of tasks given to us. Another lesson we learned is.... (almost) "Everything is Awesome! Everything is cool when you're part of a team." (from "The Lego Movie"). And of course, always trust in God.

Our (not really) last farewell: So, dear Eco-Spotters, this is another blog well done (we hope). So long, good bye. We hope you join us again next time as we meet the spot, The Eco Spot.

Post #5: SONA (politics straight from the Internet!)

ATTENTION ALL ECO-SPOTTERS!!!

Newscaster: Here, LIVE, is our *ahem* "four" *ahem* presidents - President Beauty, President Browser, President OliveR.Queen, and President Master-Sensei of the Republic of the Eco-Spot, for their sauna- *ahem* I mean SONA or The State of the Nature Address. Let us welcome our first president, President Beauty!

Pres. Beauty: Greetings my dear subjects, uh... Citizens! As your *cough* evil *cough* just and kind president, I am concerned about our welfare, especially your welfare, dear citizens. NAtionwide, power rates have been out of control, which some people cannot afford. Somehow, the only way to "save" money is to open the BNPP (Bataan Nuclear Power Plant). I can assure you that BNPP is safe, and far from abandoned, which is in fact, well maintained. I recall, the "DOST head", my "mentor", and my most trusted "advisor", The Urban Guru taking our sixth grade - uh, I mean President grade class on a field trip to BNPP and PCC (Pawikan Conservation Center).

Unfortunately, the BNPP, which is 8 min. away from the Morong beach, the nesting place of endangered CUTE Pawikan MIGHT, and WILL AFFECT these Pawikan, if BNPP will open. I know that if we open BNPP, it will get us through our power crisis, but there will be BIGGER consequences if we open BNPP. Because IF we open BNPP, there is always a possibility, no matter how well maintained, and well built the BNPP is, it MIGHT explode, making PCC, and its Pawikan... extinct. And also, the pollution and radioactive stuff might spread, also killing nearby people.

Therefore, I conclude that the BNPP should be closed. I know it is grave, but it would be Gravy- uh... much grave to make the Pawikans extinct. But we could pray that God will help us solve the electrifying crisis we have today.
You can choose to cry or comply.

Thank you dear minion- *ahem* citizens! Thank you and this is Pres. Beauty!

Newscaster: Next, is Pres. Browser.

Pres. Browser:  Greetings my people! I am King Bowse- I mean President Browser, and I am going to have my SONA.

Like Pres. Beauty, I will side with her by keeping BNPP out of service! I know it is very absurd, but it should be done to protect my dear Koopas - or Pawikan, since they are a creation of God. So, there is not really much to talk about since Pres. Beauty almost said everything, but for this oil price problem, I, with my fellow Pres. friends (and The Urban Guru!), am going to try to solve the problem! And that is all! The Pres. Is OUT!!!

 Newscaster: Third is Pres. OliverR.Queen.

Pres. OliveR.QueenMy friends, assets, allies, etc., I come here to give you my SONA. And so I shall!

My first 2 co-presidents stated that they are against the opening of the BNPP. I, however, am for the opening of this nuclear power plant! We are at a time of crisis.. POWER CRISIS!!! Our only solution is to open our mothballed BNPP for the restoration of POWER!! Because what is proper development and progress of country without POWER!?! Though my co-presidents say that in any critical accident, an explosion could occur and may lead to several deaths, I say that our power plant is safe and stable enough for continuous power production. It is built on high ground so it will not be affected by floods or tsunamis. Though an accident can have its consequences (like in Chernobyl), if we take the right cautionary measures, we can help the BNPP do its "thing" properly. This is the sign, the answer that we should have give BNPP - the chance others never gave before. Imagine all the power we can have. The cut-down prices with MORE POWER even without this crisis. I say.... OPEN.. THE POWER PLANT!!!! POWER!!! Oh, and I don't have cough problems like the Pres. Beauty and Pres. Browser!

Newscaster: Right. And now lastly, Pres. M-.....
Pres OliveR.Queen: THE BNPP IS TOO POWERFUL TO LET MY SPEECH END!!! BLOCK (blocks something), AIR KICK (kicks at empty space with just air), EXPLOSION!!!
PA PA PA PA PA PA POWER!!... That is all. Thank you.

Newscaster: Alright. And finally Pres. Master-Sensei.

Pres.Master-Sensei: Yes, I would open BNPP for it will give out energy for the country and pay less electricity tax. Most of all, opening this will help the country to be rich in oil. I will open it for more energy in the Philippines, though I will feel sorry for the marine turtles who will be affected.

Newscaster: Straight to the point. Well, you heard their adresses. What's yours? This is Eco Spot Newscaster saying goodbye and good luck!

Note: Seeing that there was a deadlock,  the four presidents agreed on a win-win solution for both sides. Only after ensuring the safety and sound operation of the BNPP will it be opened - safety to humans and the surrounding environment using the latest in science and technology.  Also, the nesting site for the pawikan population of Morong should be relocated.

The Eco Spot: And this is the end of the SONA, thanks for reading it! God bless!

The Eco Spot: Pssttt!!! Here are some pics of the informational lecture and tour in BNPP:
